2. Who Can Purchase

3. Purchase & Possession Limits

Concentrate: Up to 4 g (including vaporized formulations).
Edibles: Up to 1,000 mg of THC in ingestible forms.
4. Where & How to Buy
Dispensaries: Licensed dispensaries only.
Delivery & Online: Home delivery is legal and conducted by dispensaries or Class 6 Delivery Services.
Consumption Lounges: Legal "Cannabis Consumption Areas" attached to dispensaries are permitted, subject to local municipality approval.
Local Opt-Outs: The vast majority of NJ municipalities opted out of allowing retail businesses within their borders initially, though this is gradually changing.
5. Taxes & Payment
Excise Tax: A Social Equity Excise Fee (SEEF) is applied at the cultivator/wholesale level.
Sales Tax: 6.625% state sales tax.
Local Tax: Municipalities may charge an additional local sales tax of up to 2%.
Payment: Cash, debit (cashless ATMs).
6. Consumption Rules
Permitted Locations: Private property and licensed Cannabis Consumption Areas.
Prohibited Locations: Public places (parks, beaches, sidewalks).
Vehicles/Open Container: Illegal to consume in a vehicle.
Landlord/Employer: Landlords can restrict smoking. Employers can maintain drug-free policies, but New Jersey law restricts employers from taking adverse action solely due to off-duty cannabis use (requires evidence of impairment on the job via a WIRE expert).

Allowed: No
Plant Count Limits: Strictly prohibited for everyone, including medical patients.
